Antonio Lewis, MD

Dr. Antonio Lewis is an internist and cardiologist with additional training in advanced heart failure, heart transplant, and mechanical circulatory support. He specializes in caring for patients with complex heart conditions — including advanced cardiomyopathy, cardiogenic shock, mechanical heart pumps (LVADs), pulmonary hypertension, and heart catheterization procedures.

He completed his internal medicine residency, cardiovascular disease fellowship, and advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology training at Cleveland Clinic. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology. He is a strong believer in the power of exercise as medicine, and he created CardioLearn because he wants every patient — not just the ones in his own clinic — to have access to clear, honest information about their heart.

Dr. Lewis leads a county-wide coronary CT angiography screening program in Broward County, aimed at catching coronary artery disease before it causes symptoms. He is active in clinical research, has authored peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters in heart failure and echocardiography, and helped build Cleveland Clinic Weston's heart failure discharge and care-transition program — the system that helps patients safely go home and stay home after a heart failure hospitalization.

Drawing on his own Hispanic background, Dr. Lewis has a particular interest in tropical cardiomyopathies, including Chagas disease — an under-recognized cause of heart failure in many Hispanic patients. He is committed to multidisciplinary, patient-centered care for people with the most complex heart conditions.
